How to Make an Offer When Buying a Home
You have been house shopping for several weeks. You know what you want in a house and you finally found the perfect house. It is the home you want to buy. Now what? You need to make an offer on the house. Don t know how? Don t worry. It s easy. Here is how you should make an offer when buying a home. Talk with your real estate agent. Tell him/her that you like this house and you want to make an offer on the house. After you tell him/her what you want to pay, he/she will do the rest for you. This is part of the agent s job. When you are deciding what you want to offer on the house, you should consider the asking price. If you agree to the asking price, your offer will be the asking price. Most sellers know that they will not get the asking price on a home. This is why they wait for buyers, like you, to make an offer on the home. You should make a reasonable offer. Most realtors will tell you that any bid less than $10,000 of the asking price is offense to the seller. Be prepared that once you make an offer, the seller will probably counter offer a price that is between your offer and the selling price. The back and forth offers may continue for some time, but usually end within a two week period. Once you and the seller have determined a comfortable price, you will complete the purchase of the home.
